Sustainable Solutions Unlimited is a Portland based general contractor specializing in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR retrofits, solar, solar hot water, and small wind installations. We were founded in February of 2005 by Carolyn Vail, Steven Mcgrath and Robert Shields.

We are one of the most active Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractors in Oregon. Our Home Performance consultants help make your home more energy  efficient, comfortable and safe using a whole house approach. Since we began our Home Performance program in 2007, we have been an industry leader by being involved in programs with Energy Trust of Oregon like Clean Energy Works: Portland.

Our staff is trained in solar electric, solar hot water and small wind power systems. For residential and commercial settings, we perform site assessments to ensure there is an appropriate solar or wind resource.  If you are a good clean energy candidate, we can provide custom design and installation of solar and small wind systems, using local resources when available. We also advise you on the financial aspects of your clean energy project. From permitting to completion of your project, we provide comprehensive project management.

We are BPI Accredited, 1 of 8 in the Portland Metro (as of 5/27/2010). This means we specialize in improving comfort, efficiency, indoor air quality, safety and durability of homes. You can feel comfortable allowing us to work on your home because our Home Performance retrofits are held to BPI's quality assurance program. Being BPI Accredited also means we find the root of your home's problems and fix them right, not just treat the symptoms.
